About Vintage Frame

Vintage Frame is our abstract pick, and it is a pick rather than a default — we looked at the shelf twice before leaving it on. The review tab is empty. That is normal here and not a warning, but it does put the preview in charge. With 1 saves it has barely been seen, and that is neither a good nor a bad sign on a catalogue this size. Credit goes to Almairatype Studio.

Botanical and animal art is judged on the edges: zoom into the preview and see whether the leaves and fur are drawn or blurred. Our own plan for it is antique, because that is where this kind of file does the least arguing with you. Before downloading, give the preview a full-size look and read the licence tab — two clicks, and they answer most of what the listing leaves unsaid.

It answers to art, background, banner and border, and that spread of wording is worth noting: a file tagged this consistently usually behaves the way the preview suggests. The same shelf also answers to floral, botanical, flower, leaf and plant, so widen the search there before giving up on it. You will find it among the botanical and animal illustrations, sorted next to everything that does roughly the same job. What this shelf gets asked for is watercolor paintings, animal drawings, bird drawing, hibiscus flower drawing and flower drawings. That list is why these files are here and not some prettier ones.

How to use this file

  1. Download the set from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — brush sets arrive as .brushset for Procreate or .abr for Photoshop.
  2. Open the brush file on the iPad and it installs itself into a new set; in Photoshop, drag the .abr onto the canvas.
  3. Try every brush once on a scrap canvas and delete the ones you will not use — a bloated brush list slows you down more than it helps.
  4. Keep reference sheets at full size in a separate folder: downscaled references hide exactly the detail you needed them for.
