About Vintage Frame

The reason Vintage Frame is here is abstract and nothing else. It does not try to cover the next three jobs along, and we would rather it did not. Almairatype Studio is the name on the listing. The save count is still small at 1, so read this as our opinion and not a consensus. Nobody has reviewed it, which we do not hold against a new file — but it does mean the preview is the only honest evidence.

Botanical and animal work is judged at the edges, so zoom in and see whether the leaves and the fur are drawn or blurred. Our own plan for it is antique, because that is where this kind of file does the least arguing with you. Open it big before you commit. At thumbnail size every file on this shelf looks equally good, which is the problem with thumbnails.

Filed as art, background, banner and border. Tags are a rough instrument, but a consistent set like that usually means the file is what it claims. You will find it among the botanical and animal illustrations, sorted next to everything that does roughly the same job. If none of this quite fits, the adjacent requests are floral, botanical, flower, leaf and plant and they stay on this page. The wording people arrive with is watercolor paintings, animal drawings, bird drawing, hibiscus flower drawing and flower drawings, and we would rather shelve for those requests than for how a thumbnail looks in a grid.

How to use this file

  1. Download the set from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — brush sets arrive as .brushset for Procreate or .abr for Photoshop.
  2. Open the brush file on the iPad and it installs itself into a new set; in Photoshop, drag the .abr onto the canvas.
  3. Try every brush once on a scrap canvas and delete the ones you will not use — a bloated brush list slows you down more than it helps.
  4. Keep reference sheets at full size in a separate folder: downscaled references hide exactly the detail you needed them for.
