About 10 Vintage Roses

What we like about 10 Vintage Roses is how little it tries to be everything — it does aquarelle, and that is the job we wanted filled on the Line Art and References shelf. Credit goes to Rahallus Ntx. It sits at 12 saves — too few to call it popular, which is exactly why it is worth a look before everyone else finds it. There are no reviews on it yet, so judge it by the preview and not by a score that does not exist.

We look for a sheet with several angles of the same subject rather than one perfect pose — practice needs the awkward views too. The obvious job for it is arte, and obvious is right here — the file was built around that and it shows. We check two things before any download like this: the preview at full size, and whether the licence covers what you plan to do with it.

Filed as art, artist, artistsoninstagram and artoftheday. Tags are a rough instrument, but a consistent set like that usually means the file is what it claims. Nearby you will see line art, outline, sketch, drawing and portrait, which is where to go if this one is nearly right but not quite. The wording people arrive with is drawing ideas, sketch ideas, flower drawing, drawing reference and anime drawing, and we would rather shelve for those requests than for how a thumbnail looks in a grid. Its home here is Line Art and References — open that shelf if you would rather compare a few before choosing.

How to use this file

  1. Download the set from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — brush sets arrive as .brushset for Procreate or .abr for Photoshop.
  2. Open the brush file on the iPad and it installs itself into a new set; in Photoshop, drag the .abr onto the canvas.
  3. Try every brush once on a scrap canvas and delete the ones you will not use — a bloated brush list slows you down more than it helps.
  4. Keep reference sheets at full size in a separate folder: downscaled references hide exactly the detail you needed them for.
