About Comfy Patterns Coloring Book

Ask for adult coloring and you get a hundred near-misses; Comfy Patterns Coloring Book is one of the few that answers the question as asked. Unreviewed so far — read that as untested rather than as a verdict. Only 8 people have saved it so far, so this is our pick rather than the crowd's. The designer behind it is HueNestify.

We look for a sheet with several angles of the same subject rather than one perfect pose — practice needs the awkward views too. If you want one use for it, take aesthetic: that is the direction the designer clearly had in mind, and it is the one we would follow. Open it big before you commit. At thumbnail size every file on this shelf looks equally good, which is the problem with thumbnails.

The listing files it under beginner coloring, bold coloring, bold lines and bold patterns — those are the words it gets found by, and between them they describe the file better than any category name does. You will find it among the line art and references, sorted next to everything that does roughly the same job. We track what people actually type before they land here: drawing ideas, sketch ideas, flower drawing, drawing reference and anime drawing. If that is roughly what you were after, this file is in the right family. The neighbouring searches are line art, outline, sketch, drawing and portrait — worth a look if this particular file is close but not quite it.

How to use this file

  1. Download the set from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — brush sets arrive as .brushset for Procreate or .abr for Photoshop.
  2. Open the brush file on the iPad and it installs itself into a new set; in Photoshop, drag the .abr onto the canvas.
  3. Try every brush once on a scrap canvas and delete the ones you will not use — a bloated brush list slows you down more than it helps.
  4. Keep reference sheets at full size in a separate folder: downscaled references hide exactly the detail you needed them for.
