About Kawaii Food Illustration-007

Kawaii Food Illustration-007 earned its place here for one reason: it is a straight answer to animal, and straight answers are rarer in this file catalogue than you would think. Intanseptianakartika made it. Only 4 people have saved it so far, so this is our pick rather than the crowd's. No reviews either way, so the preview is doing all the work on this one.

We would use it the way the listing hints — anime — and that is also where we would start if you are trying it for the first time. Reference line art is for practice, so clean unbroken outlines matter; a sketchy reference teaches you somebody else's shaky hand. Spend the minute on the preview at full size — it is where you find out whether animal was the description or the aspiration.

Search for art, avatar, baby and background and this is the file those words land on; they are all the same file, filed under whichever phrase you happened to type. The same shelf also answers to line art, outline, sketch, drawing and portrait, so widen the search there before giving up on it. The wording people arrive with is drawing ideas, sketch ideas, flower drawing, drawing reference and anime drawing, and we would rather shelve for those requests than for how a thumbnail looks in a grid. You will find it among the line art and references, sorted next to everything that does roughly the same job.

How to use this file

  1. Download the set from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — brush sets arrive as .brushset for Procreate or .abr for Photoshop.
  2. Open the brush file on the iPad and it installs itself into a new set; in Photoshop, drag the .abr onto the canvas.
  3. Try every brush once on a scrap canvas and delete the ones you will not use — a bloated brush list slows you down more than it helps.
  4. Keep reference sheets at full size in a separate folder: downscaled references hide exactly the detail you needed them for.
