About Princess Cooking, Kawaii

What we like about Princess Cooking, Kawaii is how little it tries to be everything — it does anime, and that is the job we wanted filled on the Line Art and References shelf. Only 2 people have saved it so far, so this is our pick rather than the crowd's. Cilp art fabrica is the name on the listing. The review tab is empty. That is normal here and not a warning, but it does put the preview in charge.

We look for a sheet with several angles of the same subject rather than one perfect pose — practice needs the awkward views too. If you want one use for it, take character: that is the direction the designer clearly had in mind, and it is the one we would follow. Spend the minute on the preview at full size — it is where you find out whether anime was the description or the aspiration.

The words on the listing are chibi, collage, coloring pages and comic, and they are worth reading as a description rather than as tags. Put next to the usual requests here — drawing ideas, sketch ideas, flower drawing, drawing reference and anime drawing — this one covers the plain version of the job, which is the version people need most often. The same shelf also answers to line art, outline, sketch, drawing and portrait, so widen the search there before giving up on it. It is shelved with the rest of the line art and references, and that is the quickest way to see what else sits in the same register before you settle on this one.

How to use this file

  1. Download the set from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — brush sets arrive as .brushset for Procreate or .abr for Photoshop.
  2. Open the brush file on the iPad and it installs itself into a new set; in Photoshop, drag the .abr onto the canvas.
  3. Try every brush once on a scrap canvas and delete the ones you will not use — a bloated brush list slows you down more than it helps.
  4. Keep reference sheets at full size in a separate folder: downscaled references hide exactly the detail you needed them for.
