About Robot Doodle Icon Collection

Ask for android and you get a hundred near-misses; Robot Doodle Icon Collection is one of the few that answers the question as asked. Nobody has reviewed it, which we do not hold against a new file — but it does mean the preview is the only honest evidence. Credit goes to Cute Things. 1 save means nobody has tested it for you. We still think it holds up.

Reference line art is for practice, so we pick the sheets with clean, unbroken outlines; a sketchy reference teaches you somebody else's shaky hand. Our own plan for it is artificial intelligence, because that is where this kind of file does the least arguing with you. One thing we always do and you should too: open the preview full size. A thumbnail hides exactly the detail that decides whether android is really what you are getting.

Search for automation, black and white, black ink and cogwheel and this is the file those words land on; they are all the same file, filed under whichever phrase you happened to type. We keep it under Line Art and References, which is where to look if you want the rest of the line art and references we have gone through. The neighbouring searches are line art, outline, sketch, drawing and portrait — worth a look if this particular file is close but not quite it. The searches that bring people to this shelf are drawing ideas, sketch ideas, flower drawing, drawing reference and anime drawing — this one sits in the middle of that group rather than off to the side of it.

How to use this file

  1. Download the set from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — brush sets arrive as .brushset for Procreate or .abr for Photoshop.
  2. Open the brush file on the iPad and it installs itself into a new set; in Photoshop, drag the .abr onto the canvas.
  3. Try every brush once on a scrap canvas and delete the ones you will not use — a bloated brush list slows you down more than it helps.
  4. Keep reference sheets at full size in a separate folder: downscaled references hide exactly the detail you needed them for.
