About Japanese Food Illustration Set

Japanese Food Illustration Set earned its place here for one reason: it is a straight answer to asian, and straight answers are rarer in this file catalogue than you would think. Unreviewed so far — read that as untested rather than as a verdict. Credit goes to Pitchlook. With 3 saves it has barely been seen, and that is neither a good nor a bad sign on a catalogue this size.

If you plan to print it, look for the largest size the file supports — an illustration that is perfect on screen can be grainy on paper. We would use it the way the listing hints — cartoon — and that is also where we would start if you are trying it for the first time. The licence tab and the full-size preview are the whole of our due diligence here, and they take about a minute between them.

Search for cuisine, delicious, eat and festival and this is the file those words land on; they are all the same file, filed under whichever phrase you happened to type. Nearby you will see clipart, clip art and printable, which is where to go if this one is nearly right but not quite. Put next to the usual requests here — doodle art, art sketches, sketchbook art inspiration, art drawings sketches and line art — this one covers the plain version of the job, which is the version people need most often. We filed it under Printable Illustrations for the obvious reason, and the shelf is small enough to read end to end.

How to use this file

  1. Download the set from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — brush sets arrive as .brushset for Procreate or .abr for Photoshop.
  2. Open the brush file on the iPad and it installs itself into a new set; in Photoshop, drag the .abr onto the canvas.
  3. Try every brush once on a scrap canvas and delete the ones you will not use — a bloated brush list slows you down more than it helps.
  4. Keep reference sheets at full size in a separate folder: downscaled references hide exactly the detail you needed them for.
