About Retro 80s–90s Tech Illustration Pack

What we like about Retro 80s–90s Tech Illustration Pack is how little it tries to be everything — it does 300 dpi, and that is the job we wanted filled on the Printable Illustrations shelf. With 19 saves it has barely been seen, and that is neither a good nor a bad sign on a catalogue this size. No reviews either way, so the preview is doing all the work on this one. xhafergashi is the name on the listing.

Our own plan for it is boombox, because that is where this kind of file does the least arguing with you. Check the colour mode and the DPI in the listing. Those two decide whether the print matches what you approved on the monitor. One thing we always do and you should too: open the preview full size. A thumbnail hides exactly the detail that decides whether 300 dpi is really what you are getting.

The words on the listing are cassette player and cassette tape, and they are worth reading as a description rather than as tags. We keep it under Printable Illustrations, which is where to look if you want the rest of the printable illustrations we have gone through. What this shelf gets asked for is doodle art, art sketches, sketchbook art inspiration, art drawings sketches and line art. That list is why these files are here and not some prettier ones. Related wording on the shelf: clipart, clip art, printable and art. Same shelf, different phrasing, and the sort options above work across all of it.

How to use this file

  1. Download the set from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — brush sets arrive as .brushset for Procreate or .abr for Photoshop.
  2. Open the brush file on the iPad and it installs itself into a new set; in Photoshop, drag the .abr onto the canvas.
  3. Try every brush once on a scrap canvas and delete the ones you will not use — a bloated brush list slows you down more than it helps.
  4. Keep reference sheets at full size in a separate folder: downscaled references hide exactly the detail you needed them for.
