About Summer Buttons and Brads

Summer Buttons and Brads stayed on the shelf for the dull reason that it works. We would rather have one of these than three files with ideas of their own. It stands at 5.0 out of 5 across 1 review, and we read the low scores first when there are any. Credit goes to Digital Designs by Victoria. 8 saves mean nobody has tested it for you. We still think it holds up.

If you plan to print it, look for the largest size the file supports — an illustration that is perfect on screen can be grainy on paper. Use it where the file has to disappear behind the thing you are actually making. Open it big before you commit. At thumbnail size every file on this shelf looks equally good, which is the problem with thumbnails.

On this site it lives on the Printable Illustrations shelf, so it also turns up for people browsing printable illustrations rather than searching for it by name. The neighbouring searches are clipart, clip art and art — worth a look if this particular file is close but not quite it. What this shelf gets asked for is doodle art, art sketches, sketchbook art inspiration, art drawings sketches and line art. That list is why these files are here and not some prettier ones.

How to use this file

  1. Download the set from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — brush sets arrive as .brushset for Procreate or .abr for Photoshop.
  2. Open the brush file on the iPad and it installs itself into a new set; in Photoshop, drag the .abr onto the canvas.
  3. Try every brush once on a scrap canvas and delete the ones you will not use — a bloated brush list slows you down more than it helps.
  4. Keep reference sheets at full size in a separate folder: downscaled references hide exactly the detail you needed them for.
