About Bare Basics Vintage Journal Papers Vol.1
What we like about Bare Basics Vintage Journal Papers Vol.1 is how little it tries to be everything — it does card maker, and that is the job we wanted filled on the Textures and Effects shelf. Buyers put it at 5.0 out of 5 over 2 reviews; worth clicking through to see what they actually said. 106 people have saved it over there, which tells us the idea works for more than just us. The designer behind it is Emily Designs.
A texture is only as useful as the resolution it ships at, so check it covers the canvas you work on before building a piece around it. Our own plan for it is card making, because that is where this kind of file does the least arguing with you. Spend the minute on the preview at full size — it is where you find out whether card maker was the description or the aspiration.
If you came in looking for coffee stained, digital page, digital pages and digital paper, you are in the right place — the listing carries all of those, which is the clearest sign the designer built it for that job rather than retitled it afterwards. Nearby you will see texture, effect, action, overlay and style, which is where to go if this one is nearly right but not quite. You will find it among the textures and effects, sorted next to everything that does roughly the same job. Judged against the requests we see — action poses reference drawing, tattoo style drawings, paper airplane drawing, manga style drawing and paper boat drawing — this is a middle-of-the-road answer, and middle of the road is usually what the job needs.

How to use this file
- Download the set from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — brush sets arrive as .brushset for Procreate or .abr for Photoshop.
- Open the brush file on the iPad and it installs itself into a new set; in Photoshop, drag the .abr onto the canvas.
- Try every brush once on a scrap canvas and delete the ones you will not use — a bloated brush list slows you down more than it helps.
- Keep reference sheets at full size in a separate folder: downscaled references hide exactly the detail you needed them for.
