About Bleak Fish Watercolor

We went back and forth on Bleak Fish Watercolor and kept it, because the alternative was a shelf full of files that look better than they work. The designer behind it is Enliven Designs. With 6 saves it has barely been seen, and that is neither a good nor a bad sign on a catalogue this size. No reviews either way, so the preview is doing all the work on this one.

We would reach for it when the deadline matters more than the flourish. Check the background: an illustration sold as a PNG with a soft halo will show that halo on every coloured page you place it on. One thing we always do and you should too: open the preview full size. A thumbnail hides exactly the detail that decides whether botanical and animal illustrations is really what you are getting.

What this shelf gets asked for is watercolor paintings, animal drawings, bird drawing, hibiscus flower drawing and flower drawings. That list is why these files are here and not some prettier ones. If none of this quite fits, the adjacent requests are floral, flower, leaf, plant and bird and they stay on this page. Its home here is Botanical and Animal Illustrations — open that shelf if you would rather compare a few before choosing.

How to use this file

  1. Download the set from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — brush sets arrive as .brushset for Procreate or .abr for Photoshop.
  2. Open the brush file on the iPad and it installs itself into a new set; in Photoshop, drag the .abr onto the canvas.
  3. Try every brush once on a scrap canvas and delete the ones you will not use — a bloated brush list slows you down more than it helps.
  4. Keep reference sheets at full size in a separate folder: downscaled references hide exactly the detail you needed them for.
