About Comber Watercolor

There is nothing clever about Comber Watercolor , and that is the compliment: it does what the shelf promises and stops there. 3 saves mean nobody has tested it for you. We still think it holds up. The designer behind it is Enliven Designs. There are no reviews on it yet, so judge it by the preview and not by a score that does not exist.

Botanical and animal work is judged at the edges, so zoom in and see whether the leaves and the fur are drawn or blurred. Use it where the file has to disappear behind the thing you are actually making. We check two things before any download like this: the preview at full size, and whether the licence covers what you plan to do with it.

The wording people arrive with is watercolor paintings, animal drawings, bird drawing, hibiscus flower drawing and flower drawings, and we would rather shelve for those requests than for how a thumbnail looks in a grid. The same shelf also answers to floral, flower, leaf, plant and bird, so widen the search there before giving up on it. We filed it under Botanical and Animal Illustrations for the obvious reason, and the shelf is small enough to read end to end.

How to use this file

  1. Download the set from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — brush sets arrive as .brushset for Procreate or .abr for Photoshop.
  2. Open the brush file on the iPad and it installs itself into a new set; in Photoshop, drag the .abr onto the canvas.
  3. Try every brush once on a scrap canvas and delete the ones you will not use — a bloated brush list slows you down more than it helps.
  4. Keep reference sheets at full size in a separate folder: downscaled references hide exactly the detail you needed them for.
