About Monkey Logo

What we like about Monkey Logo is how little it tries to be everything — it does forest, and that is the job we wanted filled on the Botanical and Animal Illustrations shelf. Nobody has reviewed it, which we do not hold against a new file — but it does mean the preview is the only honest evidence. rohady286 is the name on the listing. The save count is still small at 1, so read this as our opinion and not a consensus.

Botanical and animal work is judged at the edges, so zoom in and see whether the leaves and the fur are drawn or blurred. Our own plan for it is icon, because that is where this kind of file does the least arguing with you. Before downloading, give the preview a full-size look and read the licence tab — two clicks, and they answer most of what the listing leaves unsaid.

Filed as animal. Tags are a rough instrument, but a consistent set like that usually means the file is what it claims. You will find it among the botanical and animal illustrations, sorted next to everything that does roughly the same job. The neighbouring searches are floral, botanical, flower, leaf and plant — worth a look if this particular file is close but not quite it. Judged against the requests we see — watercolor paintings, animal drawings, bird drawing, hibiscus flower drawing and flower drawings — this is a middle-of-the-road answer, and middle of the road is usually what the job needs.

How to use this file

  1. Download the set from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — brush sets arrive as .brushset for Procreate or .abr for Photoshop.
  2. Open the brush file on the iPad and it installs itself into a new set; in Photoshop, drag the .abr onto the canvas.
  3. Try every brush once on a scrap canvas and delete the ones you will not use — a bloated brush list slows you down more than it helps.
  4. Keep reference sheets at full size in a separate folder: downscaled references hide exactly the detail you needed them for.
