About Rabbits and Sweets

Rabbits and Sweets is our adorable pick, and it is a pick rather than a default — we looked at the shelf twice before leaving it on. Unreviewed so far — read that as untested rather than as a verdict. With 1 saves it has barely been seen, and that is neither a good nor a bad sign on a catalogue this size. The designer behind it is Cilp art fabrica.

We keep it filed mentally under animal, which is the use that needs the least adjusting afterwards. Reference line art is for practice, so we pick the sheets with clean, unbroken outlines; a sketchy reference teaches you somebody else's shaky hand. Spend the minute on the preview at full size — it is where you find out whether adorable was the description or the aspiration.

It answers to anime, anime character, cartoon and chibi drawing, and that spread of wording is worth noting: a file tagged this consistently usually behaves the way the preview suggests. You will find it among the line art and references, sorted next to everything that does roughly the same job. We track what people actually type before they land here: drawing ideas, sketch ideas, flower drawing, drawing reference and anime drawing. If that is roughly what you were after, this file is in the right family. The neighbouring searches are line art, outline, sketch, portrait and anatomy — worth a look if this particular file is close but not quite it.

How to use this file

  1. Download the set from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — brush sets arrive as .brushset for Procreate or .abr for Photoshop.
  2. Open the brush file on the iPad and it installs itself into a new set; in Photoshop, drag the .abr onto the canvas.
  3. Try every brush once on a scrap canvas and delete the ones you will not use — a bloated brush list slows you down more than it helps.
  4. Keep reference sheets at full size in a separate folder: downscaled references hide exactly the detail you needed them for.
