About Logo, Kids Logo

Logo, Kids Logo earned its place here for one reason: it is a straight answer to abstract, and straight answers are rarer in this file catalogue than you would think. Credit goes to Salfiart. There are no reviews on it yet, so judge it by the preview and not by a score that does not exist. Only 1 person has saved it so far, so this is our pick rather than the crowd's.

If you want one use for it, take academic: that is the direction the designer clearly had in mind, and it is the one we would follow. If you plan to print it, look for the largest size the file supports — an illustration that is perfect on screen can be grainy on paper. Before downloading, give the preview a full-size look and read the licence tab — two clicks, and they answer most of what the listing leaves unsaid.

The words on the listing are art, baby, background and banner, and they are worth reading as a description rather than as tags. The same shelf also answers to illustration, clipart, clip art and printable, so widen the search there before giving up on it. It is shelved with the rest of the printable illustrations, and that is the quickest way to see what else sits in the same register before you settle on this one. Judged against the requests we see — doodle art, art sketches, sketchbook art inspiration, art drawings sketches and line art — this is a middle-of-the-road answer, and middle of the road is usually what the job needs.

How to use this file

  1. Download the set from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — brush sets arrive as .brushset for Procreate or .abr for Photoshop.
  2. Open the brush file on the iPad and it installs itself into a new set; in Photoshop, drag the .abr onto the canvas.
  3. Try every brush once on a scrap canvas and delete the ones you will not use — a bloated brush list slows you down more than it helps.
  4. Keep reference sheets at full size in a separate folder: downscaled references hide exactly the detail you needed them for.
