About Logo, Kids Logo

What we like about Logo, Kids Logo is how little it tries to be everything — it does abstract, and that is the job we wanted filled on the Printable Illustrations shelf. With 2 saves it has barely been seen, and that is neither a good nor a bad sign on a catalogue this size. There are no reviews on it yet, so judge it by the preview and not by a score that does not exist. The designer behind it is Salfiart.

Put it to work on area first. If it survives that, it will survive whatever you had in mind next. If it is going on paper, look for the largest size the file supports — an illustration that is perfect on screen can be grainy in print. Spend the minute on the preview at full size — it is where you find out whether abstract was the description or the aspiration.

Filed as art, baby, background and banner. Tags are a rough instrument, but a consistent set like that usually means the file is what it claims. It is shelved with the rest of the printable illustrations, and that is the quickest way to see what else sits in the same register before you settle on this one. Judged against the requests we see — doodle art, art sketches, sketchbook art inspiration, art drawings sketches and line art — this is a middle-of-the-road answer, and middle of the road is usually what the job needs. The same shelf also answers to illustration, clipart, clip art and printable, so widen the search there before giving up on it.

How to use this file

  1. Download the set from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — brush sets arrive as .brushset for Procreate or .abr for Photoshop.
  2. Open the brush file on the iPad and it installs itself into a new set; in Photoshop, drag the .abr onto the canvas.
  3. Try every brush once on a scrap canvas and delete the ones you will not use — a bloated brush list slows you down more than it helps.
  4. Keep reference sheets at full size in a separate folder: downscaled references hide exactly the detail you needed them for.
