About Memphis Patterns, 80s Design, Shapes

We put Memphis Patterns, 80s Design, Shapes on the Printable Illustrations shelf because colorful lines is the kind of thing people come here looking for, and this one answers it without a detour. 5.0 out of 5 from 1 review — a small sample, but it is the sample there is. The save count is still small at 87, so read this as our opinion and not a consensus. Credit goes to collartstudio.

Put it to work on colorful shapes first. If it survives that, it will survive whatever you had in mind next. If it is going on paper, look for the largest size the file supports — an illustration that is perfect on screen can be grainy in print. Open it big before you commit. At thumbnail size every file on this shelf looks equally good, which is the problem with thumbnails.

Filed as 80s design. Tags are a rough instrument, but a consistent set like that usually means the file is what it claims. Judged against the requests we see — doodle art, art sketches, sketchbook art inspiration, art drawings sketches and line art — this is a middle-of-the-road answer, and middle of the road is usually what the job needs. You will find it among the printable illustrations, sorted next to everything that does roughly the same job. People after this usually search illustration, clipart, clip art, printable and art too, and the shelf is sorted so those all land in the same place.

How to use this file

  1. Download the set from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — brush sets arrive as .brushset for Procreate or .abr for Photoshop.
  2. Open the brush file on the iPad and it installs itself into a new set; in Photoshop, drag the .abr onto the canvas.
  3. Try every brush once on a scrap canvas and delete the ones you will not use — a bloated brush list slows you down more than it helps.
  4. Keep reference sheets at full size in a separate folder: downscaled references hide exactly the detail you needed them for.
