About Monkey Logo

What we like about Monkey Logo is how little it tries to be everything — it does forest, and that is the job we wanted filled on the Botanical and Animal Illustrations shelf. Credit goes to rohady286. The save count is still small at 1, so read this as our opinion and not a consensus. Unreviewed so far — read that as untested rather than as a verdict.

Botanical and animal art is judged on the edges: zoom into the preview and see whether the leaves and fur are drawn or blurred. The obvious job for it is logo, and obvious is right here — the file was built around that and it shows. One thing we always do and you should too: open the preview full size. A thumbnail hides exactly the detail that decides whether forest is really what you are getting.

Type animal and illustration into the search above and this one comes back — the same file under four different habits of phrasing. The wording people arrive with is watercolor paintings, animal drawings, bird drawing, hibiscus flower drawing and flower drawings, and we would rather shelve for those requests than for how a thumbnail looks in a grid. If none of this quite fits, the adjacent requests are floral, botanical, flower, leaf and plant and they stay on this page. We keep it under Botanical and Animal Illustrations, which is where to look if you want the rest of the botanical and animal illustrations we have gone through.

How to use this file

  1. Download the set from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — brush sets arrive as .brushset for Procreate or .abr for Photoshop.
  2. Open the brush file on the iPad and it installs itself into a new set; in Photoshop, drag the .abr onto the canvas.
  3. Try every brush once on a scrap canvas and delete the ones you will not use — a bloated brush list slows you down more than it helps.
  4. Keep reference sheets at full size in a separate folder: downscaled references hide exactly the detail you needed them for.
