About Black Scalloped Edge Frames

Ask for abstract and you get a hundred near-misses; Black Scalloped Edge Frames is one of the few that answers the question as asked. Nobody has reviewed it, which we do not hold against a new file — but it does mean the preview is the only honest evidence. It is DesignVectx's work. It sits at 12 saves — too few to call it popular, which is exactly why it is worth a look before everyone else finds it.

We would use it the way the listing hints — arch — and that is also where we would start if you are trying it for the first time. Reference line art is for practice, so clean unbroken outlines matter; a sketchy reference teaches you somebody else's shaky hand. The licence tab and the full-size preview are the whole of our due diligence here, and they take about a minute between them.

The words on the listing are arch frame, badge shape, black and black and white, and they are worth reading as a description rather than as tags. The searches that bring people to this shelf are drawing ideas, sketch ideas, flower drawing, drawing reference and anime drawing — this one sits in the middle of that group rather than off to the side of it. Nearby you will see line art, outline, sketch, drawing and portrait, which is where to go if this one is nearly right but not quite. Its home here is Line Art and References — open that shelf if you would rather compare a few before choosing.

How to use this file

  1. Download the set from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — brush sets arrive as .brushset for Procreate or .abr for Photoshop.
  2. Open the brush file on the iPad and it installs itself into a new set; in Photoshop, drag the .abr onto the canvas.
  3. Try every brush once on a scrap canvas and delete the ones you will not use — a bloated brush list slows you down more than it helps.
  4. Keep reference sheets at full size in a separate folder: downscaled references hide exactly the detail you needed them for.
