About Polaroid Collections

What we like about Polaroid Collections is how little it tries to be everything — it does background, and that is the job we wanted filled on the Botanical and Animal Illustrations shelf. It is Raya Design's work. No reviews either way, so the preview is doing all the work on this one. It sits at 13 saves — too few to call it popular, which is exactly why it is worth a look before everyone else finds it.

Botanical and animal art is judged on the edges: zoom into the preview and see whether the leaves and fur are drawn or blurred. We keep it filed mentally under blank, which is the use that needs the least adjusting afterwards. One thing we always do and you should too: open the preview full size. A thumbnail hides exactly the detail that decides whether background is really what you are getting.

If you came in looking for design, empty, flower and frame photography, you are in the right place — the listing carries all of those, which is the clearest sign the designer built it for that job rather than retitled it afterwards. We filed it under Botanical and Animal Illustrations for the obvious reason, and the shelf is small enough to read end to end. Judged against the requests we see — watercolor paintings, animal drawings, bird drawing, hibiscus flower drawing and flower drawings — this is a middle-of-the-road answer, and middle of the road is usually what the job needs. The same shelf also answers to floral, botanical, leaf, plant and bird, so widen the search there before giving up on it.

How to use this file

  1. Download the set from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — brush sets arrive as .brushset for Procreate or .abr for Photoshop.
  2. Open the brush file on the iPad and it installs itself into a new set; in Photoshop, drag the .abr onto the canvas.
  3. Try every brush once on a scrap canvas and delete the ones you will not use — a bloated brush list slows you down more than it helps.
  4. Keep reference sheets at full size in a separate folder: downscaled references hide exactly the detail you needed them for.
